Maria Roberts, writer and journalist

Maria Roberts is a writer and journalist from Manchester, UK. She graduated with an MA in Novel Writing from Manchester Metropolitan University and has a BA (Joint Hons) in Spanish and English from the University of Manchester.

She wrote the popular blog Single Mother on the Verge, which was turned into a book of the same name, published by Penguin. She won Best Personal Blog at the Manchester Blog Awards at Manchester Literature Festival, the same year she was nominated for an Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award at Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Maria has written for publications including Marie Claire, Elle, Cosmopolitan, The Telegraph and The Times, and has contributed to discussions on family and women's issues on TV and radio, including BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour and BBC news and current affairs programmes.

Her new audiobook collection, Far From Home, is the first release of three stories in the serialised collection All The Men I Never Loved, releasing throughout 2026 as a Culturalist Original.
